Tootsie Pop

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a "tootsie pop"??? Anyone remember that funny old owl from those commercials?? Well....that owl has come to visit us a few times this summer. We named her Tootsie and she is REALLY cool to see in person. And yes-they can turn their head ALL the way around!!! These pictures were taken from our deck and she was sitting in the tree closest to our house. She likes to perch right above a hallowed out tree where a family of chimpmunks live....but we won't think about WHY she perches there...

Meme and Poppy's Oasis

After a LONG day swimming!

Last week, we got to go to Meme and Poppy's condo in Orange Beach. It is part of a big development called "The Wharf". There are lots of fun things to do but the most fun is the HUGE swimming pool with a lazy river, wave pool and a really fun area for the kids. All the kids had a great time sliding...Spencer figured out that he like going down the slide-feet first, on his tummy (video to be uploaded in the near future!) But every time he would climb the steps, get himself turned around and slide down. What was really funny was that on the way home from the beach, we stopped at a Burger King with a couple of slides and there was Spencer-sliding down feet first, on his belly. So if you see this cute kid sliding feet first in Kindergarten-well-that's just Spencer James Day

Once upon a time.....

Once upon a time, there was a young girl who went to Ole Miss. After a few weeks-she got in the grove of things and loved it!!! She couldn't wait for the weekend to go out with her friends to do crazy things like dance on tables, eat chicken on a stick or go to some hole in the wall called "Hotty Toddy" OR better yet-drive to the next county to get cold beer. She met her prince(even though he didn't know it yet!) After her turn was up (after all, you have to share Ole Miss with others and move on)she moved on to Atlanta and again could not wait for the weekend to go to bars, movies or just have "girls night" There were crazy Halloween parties, road trips, football saturdays but mostly good friends and good times. Saturday nights were the best time to go out, have fun and not worry about tomorrow....She did marry that prince and they had a munchkin of their very own. Now, this young (kinda')girl would not trade this life for all the tea in china but MY OH MY HOW SATURDAY NIGHT HAS CHANGED..... :)

Spencer the Spectacular!!!

Just a couple of clips of Spencer walking!!! Yeah! I know the first screen is black-just hit play and it will go...

4th of July continue.....

4th of July pictures

We were so lucky to have everyone in town for the 4th. Matt (my brother), Mandi(his wife) and Anna Lauren (my niece) flew in for the 4th and road race. We got to do lots of fun activities with both my family and Michael's family. Spencer had all of his grandparents to celebrate with him. Here are some of our favorite pictures....

It's all about the t-shirt.......

So, for those of you that don't know....I WALKED THE WHOLE 10K PEACHTREE ROAD RACE and lived to tell about it. I had on my new Nike's (thanks to my hubby and our anniversary!)and I had two cohorts that kept me going-Kate, my sister, and Lori Oldknow-dear friend. This was the first "race" I've ever done and had a great time! Kate was keeping track of our milage and our time. I finally quit asking how much further and decided that if I simply stopped,I'd have to walk to the Marta station anyway-so I might as well keep going....The funniest part about the race was the end. At the end of race there are a bunch of people taking your picture-it was a mile 6. I just assumed that was the end of the race and started to slow down (actually considering just sitting down in the middle of the road) but Kate and Lori just kept charging ahead. I'm thinking-are you guys crazy?? the race is over-SLOW DOWN but NO we had another 0.2 miles to go!!! But-we did it and I got my t-shirt and YES-all that work was worth it to get my t-shirt. I want to do it again. Maybe next year, I'll actually walk some in the weeks leading up to the race....
